The ‘Patenschaftsmuseum Goldap in East Prussia’ displays an extensive collection on 400 years of history as well as cultural and social life in the district of Goldap up to 1945. The extended exhibition \u2018Goldap and Stade after 1945\u2019 documents the relations between Poland and Germany in the post-war period up to Poland’s accession to the EU using the example of the two towns of Goldap and Stade.<\/p>\n

In accordance with the terms of the partnership, it is intended to keep alive the knowledge and memory of East Prussia, which was German until 1945.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The exhibition<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The approximately 1,500 exhibits centre on the administrative district and the town of Goldap in East Prussia. They mainly include documents, photos and everyday objects and a few archival items that arrived in Germany around 1944\/45 in the luggage of displaced persons.<\/p>\n

The exhibition primarily focuses on an \u2018East Prussia information space\u2019, the \u2018History of the churches and schools\u2019, \u2018Agricultural life\u2019, \u2018Romincka\u2019, the \u2018Fate of the Goldau population in 1944\/45\u2019 and the post-war period, from the \u2018Fate of the refugees\u2019 to \u2018Temporary homecoming and first rapprochements\u2019 and \u2018Youth encounters\u2019.<\/p>\n

The library, which centres on East Prussia and German history, is open access. Genealogists will find extensive specialised literature. Video clips of contemporary witness accounts can be viewed.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The \u2018Patenschaftsmuseum Goldap in East Prussia\u2019 is run jointly by the district of Stade and the Kreisgemeinschaft Goldap in Ostpreu\u00dfen e.V. (Goldap District Community in East Prussia). A sponsorship with the Kreisgemeinschaft Goldap has existed since 1952.
\nThe museum in Stade has been run in its current form since 1987 and moved into the premises in Harsefelder Stra\u00dfe in 2011.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
