Lower Saxon Milchstraße

How did it all start with moorland and cows, milk and butter, quark and cheese? And how does modern agriculture work in the modern day?

Twelve farms and one dairy open their doors to cycling enthusiasts. They show the milking equipment and explain how dairy farming is done professionally today. And if you want, you can even take the Milk Certificate along the way.

There are a total of four routes on the Lower Saxon Milchstraße in the Altes Land holiday region on the Elbe and in neighbouring Cuxland. All cycle routes are signposted with a standardised logo and can be combined with each other.

The “Cycle Tour 2” of the Lower Saxon Milchstraße (approx. 59 km) is designed as a circular route and starts and ends in Stade. The signposting in Stade can be found from the bridge Steinbachbrücke over the river Burggraben (corner of Wiesenstraße/Am Burggraben) near the open-air museum on the island.
