Pangaea exhibition

600 million years of geological history at your fingertips

You would hardly expect to find a collection of fossils from all over the world behind the historic walls of Grauerort Fortress. The Pangaea exhibition comprises several 10,000 finds from 600 million years of the earth’s history, including fossils, bone discoveries and other fascinating finds from the dinosaur era, spread over around 50 square metres in two rooms of the fortress. The most unique feature of this exhibition is that everything that is not behind glass can be touched. This makes the Pangaea exhibition particularly exciting for families with children, school classes and youth groups. Artefacts from all over the world can be found among the exhibits, although most of the rarities come from Germany. These and the stories they tell bring the history of evolution to life. In addition to sabre-toothed tigers and dinosaurs, there is a large collection of amber, some of which was even found on the beach at Abbenfleth, right on the doorstep of the fortress.

Children's birthday parties and discovery excursions

An excursion to the Pangaea exhibition is not only an exciting way for families and school classes to spend the day, there are also plenty of activities for children’s birthday parties that allow children to slip into the role of explorers, adventurers or archaeologists. There are programmes on topics such as dinosaurs, building spears, the Stone Age and prehistoric times, as well as archery, amber and jewellery making. The party schedule and all activities can be tailored to suit the age of the children, allowing them to experience 600 million years of history at first hand.
