Rustic charm in the historic fort
The historic fortress fascinates with a unique backdrop. It is located a good 10 kilometres from Stade in the direction of the North Sea directly on the river Elbe. The site is located in a side courtyard with open access to the fortress, some pitches are located in the neighbouring inner courtyard.
The best thing about the location:
The sandy beach is included. The site is just a 400 metre walk from one of the most picturesque stretches of beach on the Lower Elbe, where the Elbe is as wide as a strait. To date, it’s still a real insider tip!
The motorhome site is furnished in a rustic style and is characterised by its cosiness and homely atmosphere. The exceptional location in a historic setting, surrounded by nature and in the immediate vicinity of the beach makes it a small but beautiful dream motorhome site that is unlike any other.

The motorhome site at Grauerort Fortress is open.
The motorhome site at Grauerort Fortress is closed for the winter break. We look forward to welcoming you back at the end of March 2026. Online booking will be available at the beginning of 2026.
Please note: The Camper Clean Station is currently out of order. Guests staying at the motorhome site at Grauerort Fortress are welcome to use the disposal station at the motorhome site at Schiffertor free of charge.
Due to construction work on the L111 (Obstmarschenweg), access to the motorhome site will be restricted until Saturday, 27 April: The site can currently only be accessed from the direction of Stade as the L111 between Drochtersen and Barnkrug is temporarily closed. Coming from Stade, please turn right at the second roundabout in Bützfleth into Deichstraße, then take the second left into Abbenflether Hafenstraße and then right into Schanzenstraße.
Please note: Various events take place at Grauerort Fortress. In exceptional cases, there may be restrictions on the use of the pitches.
Find your way to us
From the direction of Stade, follow the Obstmarschenweg (L111) in the direction of Drochtersen/Wischhafen. Please continue straight ahead at the Abbenfleth junction. After about 200 metres, the access road to the fortress is on the right. Follow the signs to the car park.
Coming from Drochtersen/Wischhafen, follow the Obstmarschenweg (L111) in the direction of Stade. Shortly before you reach the village of Abbenfleth, you will reach the signposted access road to the car park.

Pitch reservation
Advance pitch reservations are recommended and can be made using our online booking system.
Outside of service hours, access to the pitch area is only possible with the gate code provided in the booking confirmation.
Any unused pitches can be booked on site using a QR code or directly with the pitch team during supervision hours.
Note: Bookings for the 2024 season can presumably be made from mid-March 2024.

Dog trainer visit
Is there anything better than going on holiday with your own dog? But what if your dog considers the motorhome to be its mobile territory and wants to keep everything and everyone away? What if it loudly insists on this and annoys its owners and neighbours with its barking? Perhaps you would also like to use your free time on holiday to develop team spirit with your four-legged friend?
For all minor and major training issues that may arise during your holiday, Nadine Ciapanna from the Martin Rütter dog training school will visit the motorhome site at Grauerort Fortress and provide you with advice and support in your own personal training session.
