Altes Land

10 million fruit trees on our doorstep

The nation’s fruit paradise is known for its sea of pink and white blossom in spring. And it is indeed a feast for the eyes every year when the buds of cherries, plums and finally apples unfurl one after the other across more than 170 square kilometres.

Old thatched and elaborately restored half-timbered houses set the scene here. And it is not only at harvest time that the streets are lined with lovingly decorated stalls selling the sweet fruits of this region.
Fruit farms also invite visitors to take a tour, and the associated farm shops and cafés show with great ingenuity the many different ways in which the local produce can be savoured.
