Relax and enjoy sports right by the water – in Stade, the river Elbe and the river Burggraben provide the perfect setting for special exercise programmes. From gentle stretching on the beach to balancing on a SUP board, a wide range of outdoor activities on land and on water allow you to relax, recharge your batteries and enjoy moments of mindfulness – surrounded by fresh air, wide open spaces and maritime flair. Here, nature, exercise and relaxation come together to create an exceptional experience for body and soul.

Yoga at the beach

Under the title ‘Yoga at the Beach’, ‘KarmaCouch. Yoga & Entspannung’ is organising open yoga classes on the Elbe beach in Bassenfleth in cooperation with STADE Marketing und Tourismus GmbH.

In the morning, when the air is still cool and the beach is wonderfully quiet, Rieke Buning, certified yoga teacher at KarmaCouch, starts the day with an hour of Vinyasa Power Yoga. In Vinyasa Yoga, different yoga poses are linked together in flowing movements with the breath, strengthening and stretching the body.

A calming panoramic view of the water is included.

A little tip: don’t have breakfast until after your yoga class!

Good to know

Yoga at the beach takes place once a week between June and September, on Tuesdays from 9.30 to 10.30 am, on the Bassenfleth Elbe beach.

The meeting point is 15 minutes before the start at the beach car park on the Bassenfleth Elbe beach.

“Yoga on the beach” is suitable for beginners, advanced students and those in desperate need of a holiday.

Please bring a mat or towel, a blanket for the final relaxation session if required, a thick jumper, warm socks and plenty of drinking water. Dress in layers.

Beach yoga is dependent on the weather. In case of “bad weather” the class must unfortunately be cancelled. Up-to-date information is always available on the “KarmaCouch” homepage on Instagram and Facebook.

SUP yoga on the Burggraben

While the SUP board is more about keeping the body in balance, yoga adds the element of inner balance – a unique combination of movement, relaxation, fun and nature.

The SUP Club Stade offers two different yoga courses in collaboration with KarmaCouch. In both, the muscles are warmed up during a 30-minute paddle session and the participants can first develop a feeling for the movement on the board. This is followed by a 40-minute yoga session on the board before another, more relaxed paddle cooldown on the Burggraben back to the SUP Club.

Good to know

SUP yoga takes place on selected dates during the summer months.

The yoga session with the SUP board is held on the river Schwinge.

20 minutes before the start of the session you meet at the SUP Club on StadeBeach.

Swimming skills are absolutely necessary, initial knowledge of yoga and/or SUP boarding is recommended.

Please bring a towel, light functional clothing and plenty of drinking water.

SUP yoga is dependent on the weather conditions. In the event of northern German “Schietwetter”, meaning bad weather conditions, the lesson must unfortunately be cancelled. Stretch & relax at the beach

With views of the Elbe, fresh air and the gentle sound of waves, the Stretch & Relax course with fitness trainer Laurine Redecker is a great, soothing way to start the day.

Surrounded by nature, targeted stretching exercises release tension, improve flexibility and train body awareness.

The focus is on mindful movement and conscious breathing – ideal for replenishing your energy and starting your Sunday feeling relaxed.

Good to know

Stretch & Relax takes place on Sundays from 10 to 11 am on the Bassenfleth Elbe beach.

The meeting point is 15 minutes before the start at the car park on the Bassenfleth beach.
