Special shopping experiences
The joy of a leisurely shopping spree in Stade’s historic town centre with its many small shops in the winding alleyways is reason enough to plan your next trip to Stade.
Enjoying both the shopping experience and the flair of the historic town centre in the peace and quiet of one of the Sundays shopping days is naturally twice as enjoyable.
Back in the early 1970s, the first streets in Stade were converted into pedestrian zones. Today, almost the entire historic town centre of Stade is car-free and the shopping experience has become even more charming.

- Big raffle at Holzstraße: For every purchase of 20 euros or more at one of the participating stores, customers will receive a raffle ticket. At 4.30 pm, the prizes will be raffled off at Holzstraße near Breite Straße.
- Car show at the ‘Am Sande’ square: this year, the Stade car dealerships Cordes, Tobaben, S&K, Herbert Vollmers, Tietjen and Werner Bröhan are exhibiting their vehicles.
- A food stand will be on hand to provide refreshments on the square ‘Am Sande’.
- Children’s programme: Stade aktuell e.V. is organising face painting at the Fischmarkt and a fun hunt for sweets for children in the shops.

Stade on the move
While the Craft Beer & Gourmet Festival at Stade’s city harbour is all about culinary delights and unusual beer creations, the ‘Stade in Motion’ action day will take place in the alleyways of the historic town centre on Sunday, 28 April. From 12 noon to 6 pm, everything will revolve around the themes of mobility and sport. Various exhibitors invite you to sample and enjoy. The sounds of street music accompany the guests through the streets of the historic town centre.
On the ‘Am Sande’ square, visitors to the car show are invited to admire the latest car models, try them out and have a chat with representatives from the car dealerships in Stade. Just a few steps away on the Pferdemarkt, collector’s items and special classic car models are presented by the Classic Club Niederelbe. The Vespa Club Hamburg at the town hall is similarly impressive, but a little more leisurely. The popular mopeds make the hearts of young and old beat faster. You can also get around on two wheels at the Stadthafen. Test rides on e-bikes and e-scooters are a particularly comfortable experience.
The shops in Stade’s historic town centre will be open from 12 noon to 5 pm on this Sunday. At 2 pm, Shop No. 10 is organising an outdoor fashion show in the Holzstraße. At various locations in the historic town centre, musical performances by buskers invite you to take a break and enjoy. These can be found in the Hökerstraße, at the Pferdemarkt, in the Holzstraße and at Wasser West. The music programme for the ‘Stade on the move’ day of action is organised with the support of Stade aktuell.
