5. Analysis tools and advertising

Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (‘Google’), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics enables the website operator to analyse the behaviour of website visitors. In doing so, the website operator receives various usage data, such as page views, length of visit, operating systems used and location of the user. This data is summarised in a user ID and assigned to the respective end device of the website visitor. We can also use Google Analytics to record your mouse and scroll movements and clicks, among other things. Google Analytics also uses various modelling approaches to supplement the data records collected and uses machine learning technologies for data analysis. Google Analytics uses technologies that enable the recognition of the user for the purpose of analysing user behaviour (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information collected by Google about the use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The use of this service is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG. Consent can be revoked at any time. Data transfer to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission. You can find details here: https://privacy.google.com/businesses/controllerterms/mccs/.

Browser plugin

You can prevent the collection and processing of your data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en. You can find more information on how Google Analytics handles user data in Google’s privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en.

Order processing

We have concluded an order processing contract with Google and fully implement the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Matomo

This website uses the open source web analysis service Matomo. With the help of Matomo, we are able to collect and analyse data about the use of our website by website visitors. This enables us to find out, among other things, when which pages were accessed and from which region. We also record various log files (e.g. IP address, referrer, browser and operating system used) and can measure whether our website visitors perform certain actions (e.g. clicks, purchases, etc.). The use of this analysis tool is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both its website and its advertising. If a corresponding consent has been requested, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information in the user’s device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the terms of the TTDSG. Consent can be revoked at any time.

IP anonymisation

We use IP anonymisation for the analysis with Matomo. Your IP address is shortened before the analysis so that it can no longer be clearly assigned to you.

Hosting

We host Matomo with the following third-party provider: city-map Internetmarketing AG Schiffertorsstr. 2 21682 Stade

Order processing

We have concluded an order processing contract (AVV) with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract prescribed by data protection law, which ensures that the provider processes the personal data of our website visitors only in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

6. Newsletter

Newsletter data

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected, or only on a voluntary basis. We use the newsletter service providers described below to process the newsletter.

Sendinblue

This website uses Sendinblue to send newsletters. The provider is Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany. Sendinblue is a service that can be used to organise and analyse the sending of newsletters, among other things. The data you enter for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter is stored on Sendinblue’s servers in Germany.

Data analysis by Sendinblue

With the help of Sendinblue, we are able to analyse our newsletter campaigns. For example, we can see whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links have been clicked on. In this way, we can determine, among other things, which links were clicked on particularly often. We can also recognise whether certain previously defined actions were carried out after opening/clicking (conversion rate). For example, we can recognise whether you have made a purchase after clicking on the newsletter. Sendinblue also enables us to categorise newsletter recipients according to various categories (‘clustering’). Newsletter recipients can be categorised by age, gender or place of residence, for example. In this way, the newsletters can be better customised to the respective target groups. If you do not wish to be analysed by Sendinblue, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for this purpose in every newsletter message. Detailed information on the functions of Sendinblue can be found at the following link: https://de.sendinblue.com/newsletter-software/ (German only).

Legal basis

Data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time. The legality of the data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.

Storage period

The data you provide us with for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this. After you unsubscribe from the newsletter distribution list, your e-mail address may be stored by us or the newsletter service provider in a blacklist if this is necessary to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist will only be used for this purpose and will not be merged with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in complying with the legal requirements when sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the terms of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). Storage in the blacklist is not limited to a specific time period. You can object to the storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interest. For more information, please refer to Sendinblue’s privacy policy at: https://de.sendinblue.com/datenschutz-uebersicht/ (German only).

Order processing

We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract required by data protection law, which ensures that the provider only processes the personal data of our website visitors in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

7. Plugins and tools

YouTube with extended data protection

This website embeds videos from YouTube. The operator of the pages is Google Ireland Limited (‘Google’), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We use YouTube in extended data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode means that YouTube does not store any information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. However, the transfer of data to YouTube partners is not necessarily excluded by the extended data protection mode. For example, YouTube establishes a connection to the Google DoubleClick network regardless of whether you watch a video. As soon as you start a YouTube video on this website, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. The YouTube server is informed which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your surfing behaviour directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account. Furthermore, YouTube can store various cookies on your end device after starting a video or use comparable recognition technologies (e.g. device fingerprinting). In this way, YouTube can obtain information about visitors to this website. This information is used, among other things, to record video statistics, improve user-friendliness and prevent fraud attempts. If necessary, further data processing operations may be triggered after the start of a YouTube video, over which we have no influence. The use of YouTube is in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offers. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. If a corresponding consent has been requested, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information in the user’s device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TTDSG. The use of Font Awesome is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in the uniform presentation of the typeface on our website. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

Handling of applicant data

We offer you the opportunity to submit an application to us (e.g. by email, post or online application form). In the following, we inform you about the scope, purpose and use of your personal data collected during the application process. We assure you that your data will be collected, processed and used in accordance with applicable data protection law and all other statutory provisions and that your data will be treated in strict confidence.

Scope and purpose of data collection

If you send us an application, we will process your associated personal data (e.g. contact and communication data, application documents, notes taken during interviews, etc.) to the extent necessary to decide on the establishment of an employment relationship. The legal basis for this is § 26 BDSG under German law (initiation of an employment relationship), Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (general contract initiation) and – if you have given your consent – Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. Consent can be revoked at any time. Your personal data will only be passed on within our company to persons who are involved in processing your application. If the application is successful, the data submitted by you will be stored in our data processing systems on the basis of § 26 BDSG and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR for the purpose of implementing the employment relationship.

Retention period of the data

If we are unable to make you a job offer, you reject a job offer or withdraw your application, we reserve the right to retain the data you have submitted on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR) for up to 6 months from the end of the application process (rejection or withdrawal of the application). The data will then be deleted and the physical application documents destroyed. The retention serves in particular as evidence in the event of a legal dispute. If it is evident that the data will be required after the 6-month period has expired (e.g. due to an impending or pending legal dispute), the data will only be deleted when the purpose for further storage no longer applies. Longer storage may also take place if you have given your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR) or if statutory retention obligations prevent deletion.

Inclusion in the applicant pool

If we do not make you a job offer, you may have the opportunity to join our applicant pool. If you are accepted, all documents and details from your application will be transferred to the applicant pool in order to contact you in the event of suitable vacancies. Inclusion in the applicant pool takes place exclusively on the basis of your express consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). Giving consent is voluntary and is not related to the current application process. Consent can be withdrawn by the applicang at any time. In this case, the data will be irrevocably deleted from the applicant pool, provided there are no legal grounds for retention. The data from the applicant pool will be irrevocably deleted no later than two years after consent has been given.
