Cycling through the region
Of Elbe views, blossoms and Hanseatic cities
Maritime Hanseatic towns, colourful orchards, green pastures, big ships. The Hanseatic city of Stade with its picturesque historic city centre forms the heart of the Altes Land holiday region on the River Elbe. The region invites you on a fascinating discovery tour along the rivers Este and Lühe, on the Elbe dyke in the direction of Cuxhaven or Hamburg and past pretty little towns, magnificent half-timbered houses and quaint farm shops and cafés. A network of around 1,000 kilometres of signposted cycle paths leads through the mostly flat and in places slightly hilly area and connects the district’s most beautiful sights.
New cycle map
A new cycle map for Stade and the region was launched in May 2024. It shows the most beautiful circular tours starting and finishing in Stade. The map is available at the tourist information office at the harbour and can be purchased online in our souvenir shop. Here you will also find all the tour details for the six circular tours as well as GPX files for navigation during the tour.
