Holiday cheer in the historic town centre of Stade
Once the historic town centre of Stade has been transformed into a living room for the whole family, the most wonderful time of the year begins: the town centre gets into the Christmas spirit with cosy booths, decorated alleyways and festive lights.
For the first time, there will be a special harbour Christmas market at the Fischmarkt. Cosy igloos to sit in, nooks to lounge by the warming gas fire and the lovingly decorated stalls offering a wide variety of delicacies conjure up a special atmosphere around the Hansehafen harbour.
At the most wonderful time of the year, the historic town centre of Stade turns into a homey place for the whole family. The town gets in the mood for Christmas with decorated stalls, festive alleyways and beautiful winter lights.
The traditional Christmas market in Stade unfolds around the large Christmas pyramid at Pferdemarkt. Stalls with tasty treats, mulled wine and selected arts and crafts await visitors.

A small winter market will remain open at the Fischmarkt until Monday, 30 December, to add a little sweetness to the time between the Christmas and New Year’s.

Christmas market at the Pferdemarkt
The heart of the traditional Christmas market are the stalls at the Pferdemarkt surrounding a large Christmas pyramid. A cosy Christmas feeling sets in when passing the various stalls offering culinary delights, mulled wine and lots more. In addition there are individual craft stalls that invite you to browse.
Christmas market opening times:
Monday to Thursday 10.30 am – 8 pm
Friday and Saturday 10.30 am – 9 pm
Sunday noon – 8 pm
Fans of mulled wine can get their fix at the Stade Fischmarkt until 30 December. The small winter market is the perfect place to relax with punch and tasty treats between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. At Wasser West, the curling rink guarantees an action-packed, cosy time.

Harbour Christmas at the Fischmarkt
Fans of mulled wine will get their money’s worth at the Fischmarkt in Stade until 30 December. Lovingly decorated stalls offer food and drinks like pastries to punch. Comfortably furnished lounge igloos and benches by a warming fire complete the romantic setting.
The small, cosy winter market can be visited daily from noon to 8 pm until 30 December.
Arts and crafts in the town hall
Lovers of craftsmanship are in for a treat on the weekends of Advent, as the traditional arts and crafts market is back at its usual location in Stade Town Hall. On Saturdays and Sundays, visitors are drawn to both the New and the Historic Town Hall to admire delicate masterpieces and unique artefacts. There you are sure to find enchanting Christmas gift ideas from a wide range of arts and crafts on offer.

Holiday fun for children
The festive season is a time for families to come together. At the Christmas market, even the youngest members of the family can enjoy a fun and exciting programme. Christmas workshops, children’s cinema,ice skating, stories and readings, a chance to meet Father Christmas himself and lots more to put a smile on children’s faces.
On Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 pm, Father Christmas will be out and about in the historic town centre with his bag of sweets. Afterwards he will read the best Christmas stories in the crane.
Every day until 23 December, a door of the large Advent calendar at Am Pferdemarkt will be opened at 3 pm.

Duo Leuchtfeuer
Monday, 21 November,
6 pm - 6.15 pm
Sabine and Wolfgang formed "Leuchtfeuer", an accordion and vocal duo, in 2018. In their repertoire, they feature maritime music with many popular sea shanties as well as their own compositions. At the opening, they will also perform a Christmas song.

The managing director of STADE Marketing und Tourismus GmbH, Dr Andreas Schäfer, and the deputy superintendent of the church district of Stade, Pastor Heike Kehlenbeck, will officially kick off the festivities at the Christmas market.
Choir of the Bockhorster Weg primary school
Monday, 21 November,
6.15 pm - 6.45 pm
At Bockhorster Weg primary school, there is a choir form in each year group that takes additional music lessons. Children in Years 3 and 4 will perform various children's Christmas songs at the opening.
Witch Knickebein
Saturday, 26 November,
2.30 pm - 4 pm
The witch Knickebein sings funny songs about the town mouse and the country mouse or the three construction workers and explains how she celebrates Christmas. Using simple musical instruments or dressing up, she invites children to join in and make music.
Bridges & Hooks
Saturday, 26 November,
5 pm - 8 pm
It's all about the song! Marc Gensior (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Dirk Leiner (cajon, percussion) present their favourite songs and the stories behind them. They build bridges between old and new works from the pop, soul and singer/songwriter genres.
