The guided tour is set in 1791, when the pharmacist’s widow Maria suddenly appears before you in a dazzling gown and invites you to take a walk through the city with her.
You will not only learn about the “latest fashions” of the time, but also about diseases, ailments and the remedies for them.
The chatty “Frau des Apothekers” (pharmacist’s wife) knows how to captivate her guests by inviting them to stop for a bite to eat along the way, where they are served one or two samples of “culinary remedies”. Along the way, you will learn a lot about the turbulent history of Stade’s historic pharmacies at the end of the 18th century.
