An eventful year is drawing to a close. Many events and trips were finally able to take place again, for which we are very grateful as the tourism industry is slowly recovering.
We would like to thank all our guests, co-operation partners and everyone who made our year so special.
Our tourist information office at the harbour will be closed on 31 December and 1 January. After that, we will be back at our usual times and look forward to a new year with you.

The latest news
Rembrandt van Rijn was a highly gifted artist whose works have been fascinating and inspiring people for over four hundred years. The Kunsthaus Stade is currently showing etchings from a Dutch private collection that have never been presented to the public before. The art-filled tour begins with a walk through Stade’s historic city centre, where Rembrandt’s creative period and parallels to the Hanseatic city are explored. After a short break, the tour continues with a visit to the Rembrandt exhibition at the Kunsthaus museum.
Piece by piece, the historic Alster barge has been transformed into a real gem in Stade’s Hansehafen harbour next to the Schwedenspeicher. Beach chairs and palm trees now adorn the ship’s sun deck and a fully equipped, cosy living space has been created below deck, matching the meaning Swedish word “hyggelig” perfectly. The homey houseboat with a living and dining area, kitchen, sleeping berth and a small bathroom is now available to guests as a special holiday accommodation.
The year is drawing to a close, which means that Christmas is just around the corner. In Stade, the Christmas market kicks off on Monday, 25 November. The air will be filled with the scent of mulled wine and baked goods, from the historic crane the sound of children’s laughter can be heard, DJ Toddy will get the hut party started and at the Hansehafen guests will find a variety of fun winter sports experiences on ice. During the Christmas season, Stade offers a varied programme for everyone to discover.

There's always something going on in Stade
The calendar of events in the Hanseatic city of Stade is packed – from traditional events to modern favourites.
The Hanse Song Festival usually kicks things off, closely followed by the Craft Beer & Gourmet Festival. In summer, the Altstadtfest, Lange Nacht and sporting highlights take place and before you know it, it’s winter again and the anticipation for the Christmas market is rising.

During Christmas time, the Hanseatic city of Stade turns into a magical world of twinkling lights, Christmas miracles and festive cheer. In addition to the Christmas market at the Pferdemarkt and Fischmarkt squares, there is a wide range of activities for children, a music programme, tourist attractions and winter sports on the ice, including curling and ice skating.

On two wheels through the region
Stade and the surrounding area are a paradise for cycle tourists; 1,000 kilometres of signposted cycle paths lead through the region.
The historic harbour Hansehafen, modern Stadthafen, summer terraces right on the water, the alleyways of the brick-red historic town centre and a whole handful of local circular tours make for a perfect day’s cycling.
