A stroll around the shops of Stade
City management has come up with a variety of activities in downtown Stade throughout the Christmas season. St. Nicholas has hidden ten Stade city vouchers, each worth € 20, in the shops of the historic town centre, window shopping becomes a competition among decor enthusiasts, and late risers can enjoy extensive shopping trips each Saturday. This promises many hours of entertainment and a particularly enjoyable shopping experience in the Hanseatic city, along with a visit to the Christmas market where you can warm up with a hot drink and savour the scent of roasted almonds that fills the air.

Long Advent Saturdays
It’s already become a tradition: on Advent Saturdays, shopping hours in many of the shops in Stade’s historic town centre are extended to 6 pm. In that, the retailers give not only night owls but all Christmas shoppers the opportunity to experience an extensive Christmas shopping spree on Saturdays as well. There is no doubt that you are bound to find the perfect gift for your loved ones with plenty of time on your hands in the city.
Window display competition
Window shopping is inspiring and, with the lovingly decorated displays, it’s easy to get into the Christmas spirit. This raises the question: which is the most beautiful Christmas shop window? Every shop window in downtown Stade is taking part and can be voted for. Visitors to Stade can submit their favourite shop window in the centre of Stade as a photo attachment to gewinnspiel@stade-tourismus.de, addressed to Stade Marketing und Tourismus GmbH. The person whose picture is randomly selected will receive a Stade city voucher worth €50. The shop with the most votes will be announced on the third weekend of December, so that the winning shop window can still be enjoyed for one more week.
The search for St Nicholas
This year, the city management has once again invited St Nicholas, who will be hiding ten Stade city vouchers, each worth € 20, in participating shops, restaurants and service providers in Stade city centre. Anyone who finds a voucher can keep it, along with the loaded value of €20. The campaign starts on St Nicholas’ Day and you can search until the last voucher is found.
