Culture Pop-Up Stade

Art for the community

In the heart of Stade’s historic town, there’s a new hangout for creatives and culture lovers. The cultural pop-up spot on the Hökerstraße is available as an artist studio, writing workshop, creativity hub, temporary exhibition space, networking spot, or venue for small concerts or performances. The sky’s the limit for your creativity here.

The cultural pop-up space is a response to changes in the retail sector and aims to offer visitors and residents of the Hanseatic city of Stade a new, creative way of experiencing art in public spaces, as well as a chance to explore different forms of creativity.

Stade Marketing and the Economic Development Agency of the Hanseatic City of Stade, as initiators of the Cultural pop-up, aim to integrate visitors in the creative process with workshops, open studios and performances. The artists’ work can be displayed in shop windows to spark the curiosity of Stade residents and visitors to the Hanseatic city.

Exhibition 'HALTEN’ by Michael Jankautzky-Laging

Michael Jankautzky-Laging, alias CY, studied illustration design and works in his own studio. His mixed media works include stencils, drawings, collage elements, linocuts and upcycling of his own paper scraps.

With their multi-layered aesthetics, the works connect street art, pop culture, and psychological depth—a visual echo of the present—loud, honest, and uncomfortable.

Floral art and beautiful creations by Caro Flowers

Caro Flowers’ exhibition range features modern and unique potted plants suitable for indoors and outdoors. Sustainable gardening supplies are also available, along with valuable tips and tricks for healthy growth and proper care upon request.

Unique flower arrangements – wild, natural, individual – are also part of the range, as are hand-tied table and door wreaths. The selection is completed by a variety of stylish porcelain pots, elegant glass vases, candles, and seasonal decorations.

Modern arrangements of fresh cut flowers can also be found here – arranged in special vessels made of zinc, wood, or handmade porcelain.

A programme of various workshops is currently being planned.

Exhibition by Birgit Kühlke

Birgit Kühlke comes from a family of sailors in Kehdingen and grew up mostly ‘on board’. The sea and the coast still shape her heart and artistic inspiration today.
While studying architecture, she laid the foundation for her drawing and watercolour skills.
In her small studio in Wischhafen, she mainly creates maritime paintings, mostly in acrylic on canvas. She likes to experiment with unusual materials such as sand, chalk and even coffee powder to give her works a special texture and depth. Water plays a central role for her – in her experience, seas, coasts and bodies of water have a calming and positive effect on people. Her paintings are intended to convey precisely this: relaxation, a longing for holidays and curiosity about what lies beyond the horizon.
An inspiring trip through Brittany prompted Birgit Kühlke to design table lamps with watercolour lampshades depicting maritime scenes. She also collects found objects from the sea that have been washed ashore and transforms them into unique square object frames.

Alena Kuschnereit

Exhibition, workshops, art school by Alena Kuschnereit

Alena is a versatile artist, mother, photographer and videographer. Her art is born out of emotion and intuition, shaped by personal experiences and reflecting the themes that move her deeply. The female soul, nature and memory are recurring themes in her work. Using symbols such as fish, natural elements and landscapes, she tells stories about women and their inner experiences. The focus is on the power, depth and value of women, from young daughters to mature women, who are often underestimated. Nature serves as a metaphor for the feminine, while fish symbolise emotional heritage. The aim is for her art to be not only viewed but also felt – to inspire, empower and help women remember themselves.

‘Between Fantasy and Place’ by Torkan Asiaee

Torkan Asiaee lives and works in Stade. She is an industrial designer, sculptor and painter – with a great passion for applied art.

In her artistic work, she combines colourful paintwork with decorative elements, small sculptures and reliefs. Her works tell stories of joy, fragility and hope.

At the same time, her works are inspired by the historic city of Stade. Small-scale reliefs and painted scenes capture the special atmosphere of this city – with attention to detail and a sense of its quiet beauty.

The collection is entitled: ‘Between Fantasy and Place’. Inspired by pop culture and fantasy, it invites you to pause, take a closer look – and discover colour and meaning in everyday life.
