Rymhart Factory Tour
A look behind the scenes of the renowned jumper production facility
The motto of the Karl Siegel knitting factory in Stade is: Preserve instead of replace. Knitting machines from the 1990s are lovingly maintained in the family business and are purring around the clock. The result: durable and sustainable outerwear made from 100% pure wool that should last at least one lifetime, as the company promises. To learn what the knitting mill does to achieve this promise, the guided tour takes guests through every stage of production. The heavy sailor jumper, known in the north as a ‘Troyer’, is the flagship piece of the knitwear collection, that does not submit to any fashion rules, but is a timeless favourite with men and women of all ages.
From design to marketing and direct sales, everything is realised under one roof. Anyone who wants to know how wool fibres react to friction, what moths hate, what a warp facing is and what the frequently used word “sustainability” really means in clothing production will find the answers to these questions at Rymhart.
