Orbitale: Farewell to the nuclear power plant
With the upcoming demolition of the last remaining power plant in Stade next year, the plant will bid farewell to the region at the end of October. To mark this special occasion, an extraordinary art project called ‘ORBITALE’ will accompany the first week of industry. Two renowned artists will transform the interior of the reactor building into the stage for an impressive audiovisual production. ‘ORBITALE’ combines art, technology and science in a multi-layered performance and invites the audience on an impressive, sensory journey.
Power plant operator PreussenElektra is thus bringing five years of construction, around 30 years of successful operation and 20 years of safe decommissioning to a fitting conclusion. The artistic farewell also creates space for something new, a turning point for this location, where new perspectives for Stade will emerge in the future.
