Children's programme in the Christmas season

The sparkle in children's eyes...

Christmas time is family time, and that’s why even the youngest family members are in for some exciting activities in the run-up to Christmas. A Christmas workshop, kids’ cinema, stories and theatre, a meeting with Santa Claus himself and much more will make children’s eyes light up with joy.

Museum "Schwedenspeicher"

On Advent Sundays, the Stade museums are once again offering their open workshops from 2 to 4 pm, followed by the showing of a children’s film.

Inspired by the exhibition at the Kunsthaus, which features photographs by Robert Lebeck, photos will be turned into small gifts in the museum’s pedagogical workshop. These can be taken home. Visitors are welcome to bring their own photos to the workshops.

All activities are free of charge and no registration is required.

The kids’ cinema starts at 4:15 pm and shows Scandinavian Christmas films. As the Schwedenspeicher Museum is closed during the Christmas season this year, the kids’ cinema will also take place in the workshop.

Children's programme at the Fischmarkt square

Every day in the run-up to Christmas, a varied programme of activities for children is offered.
From Monday to Thursday, children can get creative between 1 pm and 6 pm – craft supplies are provided so that they can make lovingly designed Christmas gifts.
There are also other activities on offer: on Wednesdays from 4 pm, the ‘Stade liest e.V.’ association reads from festive picture books. n Thursdays from 2 to 4 pm, guests can participate in the Christmas workshop organised by Schwedenspeicher. On Fridays from 3 pm, there is a magic stamp workshop with lots of fun characters to stamp and print, and on weekends from 3:30 pm, Father Christmas himself reads the most beautiful stories about Christmas.

Festively decorated, the historic crane invites visitors to enjoy a varied children’s programme every day during the Northern Lights Christmas Market.

On the hunt for the key to Stade

The notorious troublemaker Peter Menken is said to have stolen the key to the city of Stade. But his girlfriend Gertrude is convinced that this cannot be true! To prove Peter’s innocence, she needs the help of clever young detectives. Together, the children embark on a search for the key throughout Stade, solving tricky tasks and puzzles along the way. The interactive children’s city tour takes them to many important sights in Stade, such as the Schwedenspeicher museum, the Fischmarkt square, St. John’s Monastery, St. Cosmae’s Church, the historic town hall, the Rosenbrücke bridge and the island in the Burggraben river.

To ensure that no child leaves empty-handed, Santa will give a sweet surprise to all children who have not won. The Advent calendar was created by an initiative of the exhibitors.
