Saint Lucy's Day

A Swedish tradition is coming to Stade

The Feast of St. Lucy is a historic Swedish Christmas tradition. The Queen of Light, Lucia of Syracuse, is supposed to chase away the darkness of winter and bring a warming light into the houses with the glow of her candle crown. With a beautiful church service, a candlelight procession through the historic town centre and the angelic voices of the Lucia choir, the Swedish tradition has become an important part of the Christmas season in Stade. Stade aktuell, as the organiser of the Feast of St. Lucy, welcomes the members of the Lucia Choir from the Swedish twin town of Karlshamn.
