Walk of Lights

The town is bathed in light during the Christmas season

In the winter months, Stade’s historic town centre is bathed in the glow of the ‘Walk of Lights’: sparkling arches of light span the alleyways and cast the shops in a soft glow. This transforms Stade’s historic town centre during the dark months of the year, creating a winter wonderland for residents and visitors to the Hanseatic city. Numerous companies, institutions, associations and individuals have donated to the creation of the Walk of Lights. The Stade municipal utilities are the main sponsor of the Christmas lighting.

The route of the Walk of Lights

The Walk of Lights begins at Salztorswall in the south of the historic town centre and leads along Holzstraße, across Pferdemarkt, Sattelmacherstraße and Hökerstraße directly to the historic Fischmarkt by the old Hansehafen harbour.

The approximately 660-metre-long route through the pedestrian zones of the city centre is lined with numerous shops, cafés and restaurants and is ideal for a wintery stroll.
