Out of the dark – Experience Stade. Discover Rembrandt.

Experience a gifted artist whose works have fascinated and inspired for over four hundred years: Rembrandt van Rijn. The Kunsthaus Stade is currently showing a collection of previously unpublished etchings by Rembrandt van Rijn. Inspired by these, a new guided tour has been created around the famous artist. It begins with a walk through Stade’s historic town centre, where Rembrandt’s creative period and parallels to the Hanseatic city become visible. After a tasty snack, the tour continues with a visit to the Rembrandt exhibition at the Kunsthaus.

Even though Rembrandt, Netherlands native, never visited Germany, his life offers many exciting links to the life of the people and the buildings of Stade in those days. The city tour brings Rembrandt’s art to life, from the Kunsthaus museum to the St. John’s Monastery, the St. Cosmae Church, Hökerhus, the Traufenhaus and the Stade Fish Market. Rembrandt’s famous work ‘The Pancake Baker’ hints at the small appetisers that await the participants at the Pannekokenhus before, in keeping with the title ‘Out of the Dark’, the tour leads from the late afternoon twilight of the city into the exhibition, with an expert guide.
The tour takes place in close cooperation with the Kunsthaus museum Stade.
