Stadersand jetty
Stade's gateway to the world
Just a few kilometres outside Stade’s city centre lies the Stadersand pier. This is where the river Schwinge flows into the Elbe, which takes you to Hamburg, Glückstadt or Cuxhaven, just a stone’s throw away from the vast North Sea. A restaurant and seating areas invite you to enjoy a meal and relax with a view of the water while watching giant container ships, sports boats and more pass by.
Current information
Mooring requires authorisation. Please contact our colleague Ms. Andrea Sass for further information. She will be happy to advise you and answer any questions you may have.

Jetties
From the Stadersand jetty out onto the river Elbe! For many years, guests with packed bags could board a river cruise ship bound for Amsterdam or Dresden here, and excursion boats still occasionally depart today.
Pötte gucken – Watching the Container ships
The river Elbe is a busy place. Every day, the so-called “dicke Pötte” (huge container ships) pass the Stadersand jetty on their way to the Hanseatic city of Hamburg or from there to the North Sea and to other places all over the world. If you are at the jetty, you can watch container/freight and cruise ships of all sizes and origins. Especially on hot days, sailors and smaller boats are drawn to the river Elbe and there is plenty of hustle and bustle to admire from the shore.
Let your soul unwind
Five new loungers invite you to take a rest with a view of the Elbe. The curved wooden benches offer space for one or two people who want to relax with a fantastic overview.
The benches were installed to improve the infrastructure as part of the Hanseatic city of Stade’s water tourism concept.
Relax & feast
Enjoy coffee, cake and all kinds of snacks with a stunning panoramic view – all from the Stadersand jetty. “Elbblick” is a self-service café and restaurant, which offers seating both in the large conservatory and on the outdoor terrace right by the water. Here, the ships seem close enough to touch.
For German speakers, a special treat on Thursdays from 12.00 noon to 6.00 pm are witty ship announcements while you enjoy your coffee break.
