Quiet hour
Low-stimulus shopping in Stade
Glaring lights, beeping appliances, loud announcements, crowds and chaos – this is the norm in many supermarkets and can pose a huge challenge for people with disabilities such as autism, ADHD or those who are particularly sensitive to stimuli.
The ‘’quiet hour‘’ is intended to provide these people with a pleasant and stress-free shopping experience. To this end, the weekly quiet hour at REWE Neuer Pferdemarkt will be much more relaxed. On Saturdays from 7 pm to 8 pm, the music will be turned off and the beeping sounds of the checkout systems and deposit machines will be switched off. Self-checkout counters allow visitors to decide whether they want to have contact with staff or prefer to scan their purchases themselves. In addition, announcements over the loudspeaker are reduced to the bare minimum, advertising screens are switched off and the lighting is dimmed.
Customers are asked to keep quiet during the ‘quiet hour’, to avoid unnecessary noise and to keep a respectful distance from other customers.
